Chris Carvey was a student at Cowell College in the late 70s and early 80s. Upon graduation, he moved to Boston with Deborah Chandler, and changed his name to Buddy Judge. It is rumored that he was romantically involved with Aimee Mann for some years, playing guitar with her and serving as the focus of some of her material.
He teamed up with Jon Brion and formed the legendary, short-lived band The Grays.
He co-produced several Aimee Mann records, and has released a few solo discs. He has appeared on many records as a sideman, including Aimee Mann, Michael Penn, Liz Phair, and the Wallflowers.
He played onstage with Elvis Costello and Roger McGuinn at a club one evening, fulfilling a particular musical ambition.
He was seen on national television in Aimee Mann's band when she performed the song she contributed to the Vanilla Sky soundtrack.
