Happy Hovel

The Happy Hovel (aka The Pink House) was Santa Cruz venue between 1996 and 1998, during which time it was home to Josh Alper and Hugh Holden. The house is located on West Cliff Drive next to the Ramada Inn by the railroad bridge.

A few shows of note happened there including the first Santa Cruz appearance of Mirah and several early Lowdown shows. There were also several acts of spontaneous performance art such as shaking glass heads & blowing trumpets at all the passing tourists and then hiding in the closet from the police.
