J Neo Marvin (J.Neo) played guitar in the Santa Cruz noise band Real Music. Although the band was short-lived, he gained local notoriety for writing a no-holds-barred Santa Cruz scene report in the widely read San Francisco punk zine Damage in 1980.
He moved to San Francisco in 1981. His next band was x-tal, which stayed together for over ten years (1983-1996). Through the 1990s, he wrote for Puncture magazine, BravEar, Snackcake, and the Bay Guardian. His latest project is J Neo Marvin & The Content Providers.
