Peter Tripodi was the drummer, of Joe Cuba and the Tokyo Negroes. With Tokyo Negroes bass player Jim Lyons and drummer Greg Winter, started the band Space 1999, and dropped the drums in favor of guitar. After moving to Phoenix AZ, Space 1999 later changed name and became Spot 1019, with Joe Sloan joining as singer soon after.

Under the pseudonym "Peter McDeath" Tripodi was a cartoonist for the UCSC newspaper City on a Hill. His strip "A**hole's Diner" followed the adventures of an absurdly unhelpful short-order restaurant cook.
