The Santa Cruz Music Collective was a small organization that put together music shows and related events. The central goals of the SCMC were to provide shows for all ages (at the time of its creation, all members were under 21) as well as to set up a dependable contact base for touring and local bands. Initially based out of 604 2nd St, the collective's center was later relocated to 304 Gault St.
The initial collective all lived together in the 2nd St apartment, a very small space in which many memorable shows took place. Founding members included Jason Pruitt and Monica Luppi who respectively promoted and organised the shows. Shows were held at local art gallery The Abattoir, the Vet's Hall, local rehearsal spaces, as well as at the group's apartment. Trouble with noise complaints as well as the relocation of several founding members led to the move to Gault St.
