Santa Cruz Vet's Hall

The Santa Cruz Vet's Hall has long played an important role in the underground music scene as a sort of fallback venue. The large auditorium has usually been available for rental for just about any purpose, and many community-based promoters have put on shows there when few other alternatives were available, dating back at least as far as 1978. The Avengers played there that year, and in 1981 the Schematix brought Flipper there. Also in 1981, promoters F. A. Nettelbeck and Jon Carroll had Tao Chemical open for William S. Burroughs and John Giorno there.
