The Beatniks were a cover band comprised of Dick Tacklind (a.k.a. "Big Dick" Tacklind), Caker Calloway, and Alan Smith. They had a very large repertoire of over 200 popular songs from the 50's 60's and 70's which enabled them to play at a variety of events. Of note was their standing engagement performing for developmentally disabled children at Camp Harmon in the Santa Cruz mountains. Formerly The Trellis Brothers after the "Trellis Lounge" at San Francisco"s Hayatt Regency, the name was changed when Dan "D.J." Bernard left the group and was replaced by Smith.
