The Chop Tops

The Chop Tops is a Santa Cruz rockabilly band consisting of Gary Marsh (vox/drums), Roddy Larsen (bass) and Shelby Legnon (guitar). They have won the Battle of the Bands and tour nationally.
The was band formed in 1995 by Gary and Brian Berman (guitar). Drew Pinney (drums), and Ray Nailer (bass) were also part of the original line-up. Shelby joined in 1997 to play lead guitar. Brian left in 2000. Ray left in 2000 and Dusty Grave took over the bass. Drew left in 1999. Gary took over the drums while singing. The band became a trio in 2000. Dusty left in 2002 and was replaced by Roddy Larsen. Dusty returned for the better part of 2005 but was again replaced by Roddy. Dusty subsequently founded psychobilly band Stellar Corpses. Roddy left in 2007 and was replaced by TK
Chop top refers to the practice of lowering the roof on the body of the vehicle by cutting portions of the frame and door frames and reinstalling custom glass for a custom look.
