The Suburbs

The Suburbs was a Santa Cruz new wave band (1979 - 1981) featuring Steve Rice (guitar, vox) and Chris Perry (guitar) .

In mid-July 1979, The Suburbs replaced keyboardist Jeff McCaslin with Bill Fairfield, from San Francisco's band Toons. Bill also played with Times V, and did one gig with The Satellites. Jeff also briefly played with The Mirrors.

Their manager was Eric Shinault.

They changed their name to Eddie and the Tide because another group called The Suburbs (from Minnesota) threatened a lawsuit.
