The Young Originals was a two-piece guitar and violin collaboration between Anton Patzner and Keith Thompson. The two met at Porter College in 2001, when Anton heard Keith playing in the common area and came downstairs, violin in hand. Several unreleased recordings were made, but the main focus of the band was not gigging or recording, just playing on Pacific Ave. and Telegraph in Berkeley. The sound was a folk-latin-rock-and-roll hybrid, mostly of covers (hence the name).
After playing together off and on for almost four years, both members have since moved on to other projects. Anton, now located in the bay area, mainly plays with The Audrye Sessions and Judgement Day, though he had a brief stint with Bright Eyes. Keith is currently playing with El Sonido and Glitter Wizard.
