Thirty-three and a third

For the band, see 33&1/3

Thirty-three and a third was a Santa Cruz collective in 2000 that tried to unify some of the multi-faceted sc scene in the new millenium. Several members of disparate bands met several time in order to organize support and set up shows for local bands. Members of Hate Mail Express, Spike and Princess, The Lowdown, Run_return, and more participated.

The Big Bang blossomed from these meetings, as did the realization that the Cube was good spot to have a show.

In one brain-storming session, Josh Alper came up with the idea that the collective could provide drummers at shows with a cinderblock to brace the bass drum. The cinderblock would be transported with a little red wagon.
