Tony Burchyns was in the Santa Cruz bands Subtle Oak Complexity (1997-2000), Keystone Eyes (2001) and Half Czar (2002-2005). He was also part of the Live Oak Dead.

He is now a reporter for the Vallejo Times-Herald and lives in the East Bay, hoping to start a new band.

He grew up in Palo Alto and started playing music with high school buddy Justin Ward in 1992. During their senior year, they had a garage band called the Electric Shoes which recorded a four-track album called "Just a Bit Too Loud" (1995).

After high school he attended NYU for one year before deciding Santa Cruz was a better match for his creative ambitions. He transferred to UCSC in 1996, living in town for the better part of the next 10 years.
